Dear Parents/Guardians,
Can I start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a relaxing Christmas and enjoyed the break. As we start back to school it is not the start any of us were thinking about. But we fully understand why the government has taken the decision and that the most important thing we do now is to keep everyone safe. Work will now move online. We will be using Seesaw. Classes have been engaged with Seesaw since the start of the year and were engaged with a range of activities using this platform. Teacher will assign work on Monday. You will get daily communication in relation to the work set for that day. You will also get daily feedback. Class teachers and resource teachers have been planning together to support children who attend resource. The work is there as a support and will help give structure to the day. As always let your child engage with the work but never let it become a cause of frustration. It is strange doing school work at home, away from usual support of teachers and friends. If they don’t get all the work done, that is fine. Every family has their own unique set of circumstances. Remember that you can email the class teacher in relation to any issue. This communication is essential in supporting a child’s learning. We all know that children love routine. The best advice I can offer is to have a daily routine in your house. You all know the importance of getting up and dressed, eating well and exercise. In school we would always have some form of movement breaks during the day. It is important that each child engages as best they can with the work as this supports the continuity of learning. For those of you who are old enough to remember the Mars ad, children need to “work, rest and play”. The enrolment process will continue as normal. It is due to start on Monday the 11th. Applications can be emailed, posted or hand delivered. There will be a box just inside the front door of the school. They can be hand delivered between 10am and 1pm each day. The enrolment period will last for 4 weeks and closes on the 5th of February. t-2021.html I will be in contact next week. Take care and have a lovely weekend, Matthew Heffernan. MESSAGE FROM PARENTS ASSOCIATION: We are delighted to let you know that we finally completed the next stage of the yard upgrade. Over the weekend the painters arrived and completed the wall mural on the 1st & 2nd yard wall. The theme for this yard wall was Irish Mythical Legends. We wish to convey our sincere thanks to all the parents who contributed to our Small Change Friday collection which is funding our yard upgrades. This is a lovely legacy that you have all been a part of and contributed towards which will remain on the walls for many years. We have attached some photos for you to see. Many thanks and kind regards to you all Scoil Na Mainistreach Parents Association This year, as well as enjoying the all the amazing worlds you visit when reading books, Summer Stars is celebrating your imagination by running a short story competition.

More sporting success on the playing fields for a Scoil Na Mainistreach past pupil. Conor Masterson scored a cracking goal for the 21's in their Euro Qualifier against Sweden last night. A brilliant header by Conor from a corner helped Ireland to a 3-1 win and sets them up for a great chance of qualifying for the Euros next year. Well done Conor and we look forward to seeing him continue his progress with Ireland and his Club QPR.
Huge congratulations to our past pupil Aaron Browne who has been named on the Electric Ireland Minor Football Team of the Year. A brilliant achievement in what has been an extraordinay year for Aaron on the GAA fields. In July he captained Kildare minors to a Leinster Final win over the arch enemies Dublin! Like all past pupils we are immensely proud of Aaron and his achievements and we look forward to seeing him represent Kildare for many years ahead and who knows help topple them Dubs in Leinster some day!!
This week's jackpot was worth €6,200 and took place on Friday 7th June. There was no winner of the jackpot. This weeks winners of the €50 were P Farrell and J Holmes. The numbers drawn were 1,6,24 & 25. If you wish to take part in our next draw, choose 4 numbers between 1 and 28. The cost is €2 per line. Please do not put your child's name on the envelope, as you need to be over 18 to play. We would ask parents to please support the lotto.
