The Green Schools Committee are collecting mobile phones for Irish Autism Action. The money raised will go to help people in Ireland with Autism. If you donate your old mobile phones, our school will get fantastic prizes such as laptops, tablets and visualisers . All old phones are acceptable but smartphones will be worth more and our school will get better rewards If you have any old mobile phones at home please bring them in to Ms. Holmes.
Planning for Active School Week(ASW) 2016 is under way. It will take place in Scoil Na Mainistreach from the 9th to 13th May. Last years ASW was a great success and highlights of ASW 2015 can be found here.
The ASW initiative is about providing FUN and INCLUSIVE physical activity opportunities for ALL members of the school community. . It allows schools to reinforce the message that not only is physical activity good for you but it also very enjoyable. In Scoil Na Mainistreach we try to expose pupils and their families to the many groups and organisations providing physical activity opportunities often close to our doorsteps. If any parents feel they could contribute to the organisation of or running of an event during Active Week, email Mr Minnock at [email protected] and I will get in contact with you. We have received some complaints from local residents about cars blocking entrances to housing estates and drive ways. We ask that parents / guardians dropping and collecting to and from the school would not obstruct these entrances. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
