As you may know Scoil na Mainistreach was recently awarded our sixth Green Flag. Our theme was Global Citizenship. As part of our work we forged links with the aid agency Concern, who conducted workshops in many classes throughout the school. Concern have asked us to involve the children in the promotion of their new Development Education programme – “Hunger Heroes”. As a result, RTE will be coming into the school on Tuesday 20th September to film the boys and interview students from The Green Schools Committee. This will be broadcasted on the children’s news programme “News 2 Day”. We would request that, if possible, children dress up as super heroes on the day! It will lend an air of fun to the occasion as well as reinforcing the message of “Hunger Heroes”. The whole school will be taking part in this event. If you prefer your son NOT TO TAKE PART, please inform your son’s teacher by Tuesday 20th September.
The Lotto will start back this Friday 16th September. The lotto jackpot has been at €10,000 for the last 42 draws and is waiting to be won. What a way to start the new school year off than by winning €10,000!!!
