The Annual Jumble Sale in aid of St Vincent de Paul was as always a tremenduous success. Run by the pupils and teachers in 6th class the Jumble sale raised €2360. Thanks to everyone who contributed cakes, buns, toys, books etc it helped make the day enjoyably for all the boys in the school. The school will close on Thursday 22nd Decemeber at 12.15pm for Christmas. Please ensure all children are collected promptly. The school will re-open on Monday 9th January.
Please Note: The school will be closed on Wednesday 18th January for an In-Service Day. The Junior Infant & Senior Infant Play will take place on Tuesday 20th December at 11.30am. There will also be a coffee morning in the hall. All welcome.
The Annual Jumble Sale organised by 6th Class will take place on Thursday 15th December. We are looking for any donations of toys, games, DVD's, books etc. We would appreciate if you would not send in broken/ damaged items as your son may end up bringing other broken toys home! Also, any donations of cakes, buns etc on the day would be gratefully appreciated.
Next Monday 19th December will be a Christmas Jumper Day. It will be held as a fundraiser for Crumlin Hospital and all pupils and staff are encouraged to wear their Christmas Jumpers and make a donation to this worthwhile cause.
The boys in 4th class & 5th Class are participating in the Peace Proms concert again this year. Tickets are now on sale from www.peacceproms.com
Scoil na Mainistreach will be performing on Sunday 5th February at 8pm. Our much anticipated 6th class Art Exhibition takes place on Tuesday next 13th December in the school hall from 7 - 9pm. In association with the Abbey Art group the exhibition will showcase the talents of the 6th Class pupils alongside the creme de la creme of local artists. Central to the boys exhibition on the night will be their completed canvas paintings which they have been working on over the last few weeks. The completed paintings will be unveiled on the night. Our pictures here show the paintings at the half way stage of the process. Also on display will be various examples of the boys work from the past few weeks with Art teachers Rachel and Sharon from the Abbey Art Group. It promises to be an enjoyable night with prizes being given out for artists of the year in each class aswell as the the overall winner of the Martin Campion Artist of The Year trophy. Celbridge take on Kilkenny club Carrickshock in the Leinster Hurling Final tomorrow. It is a big day for the club and for the school. Many of the players on the team are past pupils, 4th class teacher Mr Curtin is playing on the team while a number of other players have taught in the school at different stages. Some of our pupils have been generating huge support for the team with their 'We are Celbridge' campaign (See Below). We wish the team all the best and encourage everybody from the school community to go to Newbridge tomorrow at 2pm to cheer on the boys and show the Kilkenny Cats that 'We are Celbridge'.
