6th Class boys today placed a Scoil na Mainistreach sticker over Brussels on our Tour Of Europe Challenge Map. Today marks the end of the European Week of Sport and we felt it would be best to run to Brussels on the final day.
Our Tour of Europe has been a great success with boys from Infants to 6th Class running the 330m Lap of the school every day. So far the boys have together run 9,876 laps of the school which is a total of 3,292Km. We have completed the distances from Dublin to London, Dublin to Paris, Dublin to Madrid and over the last 2 days Dublin to Brussels. We will continue this Challenge as a school into the future. Suzanne Brosnan from Celbridge Library called to boys from 3rd to 6th classes yesterday to talk about the benefits of joining the Library. The Library host many events which are available to members on a regular basis. Attached below is a list of the events taking place in Celbridge throughout October.
On the 26 of September the boys from 6th class competed in the cross country and came 2nd place!!!
Adam set 1st place and got a gold medal, The schools who competed in the cross country were , St Patricks, Sallins, Aghards, St Bridgets Scoil Na Mainistreach and Maynooth school.The team had a great time. Thanks to Tracy and everybody in the Celbridge A.C. for organising this event every year. The Boys from Senior Infants to 6th Class are engaging in a daily program of Physical Activity for the next 3 weeks. The Tour of Europe Challenge is an initiative promoted by Sport Ireland, encouraging pupils to put on their running shoes and visit some famous landmarks around Europe. In Scoil Na Mainistreach, Boys run a lap of the school which equals just over 330metres. Droichead, Infants and 1st Classes run 1 Lap, 2nd Class 2 laps, 3rd Class 3 laps (1Km), 4th Class 4 laps, 5th Class 5 laps and 6th Class 6 laps (2Km). The boys in 6th class have taken on the organising of the Tour and are recording the no. of laps run by each class and converting into Kilometres. Each European city has been measured from Dublin and daily targets are set by the 6th class boys. Our Tour of Europe Map is on display on the school corridor and the cities reached are marked.
