The Christmas Lights in Celbridge Village will be switched this Saturday 3rd December. There will be a party on in the grounds of St. Patrick's Church from 3.30pm and the lights will be switched on at 4.30pm. All welcome.

The closing date for First Year 2018 applications for St. Vincent's Castleknock College is 31st December 2016. Postal Application Forms may be downloaded form the College website (www.castleknockcollege.ie) or are available from the Admissions Office at the college. Application Forms for the Scholarship Scheme 2017 are available on the College website or from the college Admissions Office. Friday of music week saw Ireland's premier harmony group visit Scoil na mainistreach."4 in a bar" recently won the all Ireland barbershop competitions in Cork. This highly skilled Group of musicians shared their talent with us, they brought us the magic of Acapella singing and let us in on some of its secrets. Wednesday and Thursday of music week saw percussion being well catered for with the arrival of David Days of Jabba Jabba Jembe. All classes from 2nd to 6th and most of the staff got their sleeves rolled up and availed of this dynamic percussion experience. The video below captures some of the highlights and once again the many happy faces of Music Week 2016 Scoil Na Mainistreach's music week was privileged to host "The Marmalade Sessions". This ensemble consists of diversely capable group of musicians performing a wide variety of of musical genres. Two of the musicians Luke McTiernan and Theodore Warfield are past pupils. Big thank you to band member Alison Campbell (mother of James in 5th class and Sean in Junior Infants) for introducing us to this superb group of musicians. The National Parents Council (NPC) Kildare Branch is hosting an information session for Parents on Internet Safety. The overall objective of this session is to provide parents with information and skills so that they will be able to engage in their children's online lives. The admission is free and all parents of primary school are welcome.

This experience was brought to us by Jay Mullally and his band Supernova Jazz Trio. The trio are ultra professional and we were delighted that Jay who is father of Josh in Jnr Infants volunteered his services for Music Week. Jay also edited the clips we recorded of the session and put them together for us on Youtube! Have a look below, sit back, relax and enjoy! Music Week kicks off next week but the launch of this exciting new initiative in Scoil Na Mainistreach was held today and it certainly kicked off on the Right Note! The Garda Band arrived this morning and entertained all the boys for over an hour with some very familiar and popular tunes. Many events will have a jubilee theme. Here are some dates for your diary of local Community games events.
Table Quiz; this is a new event U14 (children born before 31st July 2003 are over age) Team event, all boys,all girls or mixed. 6 per team, 4 +2subs, all members must participate. Date: 27th November, in Scoil NaMainistreach, starting at 2pm Art and Handwriting- 22nd January 2017. More details closer to the date. Swimming will be held on a Sunday in February. This is earlier than usual. Athletics will be held, on a Monday in May, normally starting about 5pm. Cross Country: U13 over 11 event. There is no local competition for this, you go straight to county. A team will be selected to represent kildare at nationals. It will be held in March, normally in the curragh. As you are aware “Music Week” will be taking place from 14th – 18th November. The boys are keenly looking forward to the wide variety of musical acts that will be visiting the school over the week. In order to offset some of the costs involved in running this week, the boys in 5th class are hosting a cake sale this Thursday 10th November from 10 – 2. The boys will be accepting donations of cakes, buns etc between Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Parents are welcome to attend. We thank you in advance for your support with this and look forward to a very successful Music week. Many thanks, Music week committee. There will be an In-Service Day on Wednesday 18th January 2017. The school will be closed on that day.
