Oisin Pei Ling Pu thrilled audiences in Scoil na Mainistreach with an impromptu concert to mark his departure from the school.
Oisin who is currently in Mr Curtins 5th class is leaving to attend the Yehudi Menuhin School in London where he will study piano. In order to gain entry to this prestigious school Oisin won the Frederic Chopin International piano competition in Poland which puts him in the top percentile of piano players in Europe. Today he thrilled audiences from Junior Infants to Sixth Class with Etude in D Minor by Lizst and Impromptu by Chopin. We are very sorry to see Oisin leave us in Scoil na Mainistreach but our loss is London's gain. We wish him the very best in his future career and he assures us he will come back and play for us in the future.

On the 16th of May 2021 Oisin one of our 5th class pupils, became first in his age group (Group II - 11 to 13 years) at the 28th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Szafarnia, Poland - one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world for children and young people. This is the first time that Ireland was represented in this competition, and won a prize. When Oisin's competition programme was displayed on screen, his school's name "Scoil Na Mainistreach, Celbridge" was shown. Oisin was recently awarded a scholarship in Yehudi Menuhin School, so will sadly be leaving our school. He has a very bright future ahead of him and we are very proud of him. The Amber Flag represents an ethos in our school of promoting positive mental health. We our very proud of all the girls and boys for their hard work and dedication to achieving this flag!
