We are celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight in Scoil na Mainistreach. The Green Schools Committee have visited every class to teach them about Fairtrade. When we choose to buy a product with the Fairtrade logo we are making sure that farmers in the developing world get a fair price for their crops. We are having colouring and project competitions. We are also having a quiz based on our Fairtrade display which is in the foyer of our school...please have a look! Our beautiful banner was made by some of our students from 1st class. Well done boys!
We are having a raffle for a delicious hamper of Fairtrade goodies. All proceeds from the raffle will go to GOAL which is an Irish agency helping people in developing countries. Next week we hope to be having Fairtrade breakfasts in school-maybe some banana smoothies or chocolate muffins...who knows? To help us out Mr. William Tallon, managing director of Ready Chef Ireland, has very generously offered to supply Fairtrade bananas to the entire school. Please check out the Green Schools section of our website for more details of all these events
