The pupils of Scoil Na Mainistreach today presented a cheque for €3742 to Lucina Russell from MS Readathon. Organised by Mr Mulreid the fundraising event saw boys reading hundreds of books in return for sponsorship from family and friends.
This money, combined with money raised in a cake sale in Mr Markens class last week for the Straight Ahead Charity and the annual 6th Class Jumble Sale yesterday in aid of Celbridge St. Vincent de Paul and Concern, brings the total raised in the Scoil Na Mainistreach in recent weeks to over €6000. Rose Cunnane of Celbridge St. Vincent de Paul accepted the cheque from the 6th classes. Also presented to Rose on the day was a cheque for €833 from Eavan O Keefe (pictured) on behalf of the Celbridge paddlers Canoe Club who organised a Christmas Paddle on the Liffey. Well done to Eavan and all the paddlers for raising such a large amount of money. Great credit is due to all the boys and their families for making such an effort to help others in need and to the teachers for organising these worthwhile events.
