Dear Parents, Welcome to our first e-newsletter, we will use this method in future in relation to all school activities and news. SMALL CHANGE FRIDAY: This Friday 26th January is small change Friday. We would be grateful for any small change you may have lying around at home. This will go towards our new Aistear Room where children learn through play. THE HISTORY SQUAD NEEDS YOU: The History Squad from Scoil na Mainistreach is made up of 6th Class pupils. They have enjoyed great success in recent years in the All Island Decade of Centenaries Essay Competition. They are trying to find out more about people from Celbridge who fought or worked as nurses during World War I. If you are from a family who have lived in Celbridge for many generations perhaps you have relatives who were in the British Army at that time. Over 200 Celbridge people enlisted for all sorts of reasons and we would like to tell their story. If you have any details, photos, documents or letters that you would be willing to share with us, please contact us at [email protected]. JEP - JUNIOR ENTREPENEUR PROGRAMME: Our 6th Class pupils take part in the Junior Entrepeneur Programme each year. The JEP is a national programme which encourages young students to think about the business world by selling a product or providing a service within the school and the wider community. Each child in the class comes up with an idea first, these ideas are then voted down to four to six main ideas and these groups then present their ideas in a Dragon's Den scenario to local business people in order to identify the single idea that each class will get behind. The following are the three winning groups: Winning group from Mr Minnocks Class HamArt Company. Their slogan is Just Use Your HAMAgination! The boys produce a range of product such as Framed Hama Designs, Customised Hama Keychains, Hama Cards for all occasions.
